Tuesday evening, January 27th, the Fulda School Board held a Special School Board Meeting at which they approved the adoption of the proposed building/facility design, and moved to proceed with the preparation and distribution of the appropriate project bid documents.
The adopted proposal includes 29,415 square feet of new construction and approximately 30,000 square feet of remodeling.
The estimated cost of the adopted design is $ 36,582,722. This estimated cost includes $650,000.00 for decommission work at the current Elementary site. This cost estimate does not include alternative bid items, those being the track / athletic field and lighting, along with Cafeteria wall removal (however, bids will be sought for these items). The budgeted amount available for the building project is $ 36,600,000.
In regards to the roofing component of the building project, the Fulda School Board accepted the 2.34 million dollar bid from Blackhawk Roof Company, Inc. from Waterloo, Iowa for a Fully Adhered Rubber Membrane Roofing System. This bid designated or broke out the cost of the existing roof area and the new construction area. The Existing HS Building roof portion of the bid is $ 1.633 million and the New Construction roof portion is $ 706,800.00. There were three bidders for this project, the high bid was 3.02 million dollars.
Once the bids are received for the building/facility construction and remodeling, the School Board will share that information with the school district residents. The School Board has the authority to accept or reject any or all bids, and you can be assured that they take this responsibility seriously.
Please use the link below to view the page containing the roofing bid summary and the approved building/facility design.
